Doing: Having a well-earned lie in, driving to Cheltenham, wandering through the shopping arcades, buying birthday presents, stopping for a seriously delicious lunch, wishing we had room for dessert, exploring the beautiful streets of Montpellier, stocking up on our favourite Thai dish at Cook on the way home, watching terrible (but wonderful) Saturday night TV and snacking on too many mini eggs. Then getting up at a more respectable hour on Sunday, calling my Mum to wish her a Happy Mothers Day, helping the Mr set up at the Swindon Vintage and Retro Festival, enjoying mooching around the stands whilst listening to live music, catching the end of a fashion show, deciding I was definitely born in the wrong decade, popping into Paperchase (pattern heaven), heading home to warm up in front of the fire (it is mighty chilly out there this weekend!) and catching up with family over dinner.
Eating: Butternut squash mac ‘n’ cheese, goats cheese and caramelised onion toasties, courgette fritters with harissa mayo, Thai panang curry with basmati rice.
Feeling: Relaxed and content – I have a crazy few weeks coming up and it’s good to have some downtime.
Listening to: Be My Baby, The Ronettes
Discovering: A beautiful café in Cheltenham called Boston Tea Party. We dropped by for lunch on Saturday and knew as soon as we walked through the door that this would become a new favourite. The quirky décor blends rustic woods with modern, minimalist lighting and blackboard signage, creating a funky yet cosy atmosphere. The food is delicious and they have a seriously impressive array of cakes on the counter (only wish I’d had space to try one!), alongside an interesting drinks menu. We tried the homemade lemonade and Boston red berry iced tea, both delicious and served in cute mason jar glasses. As a company, Boston Tea Party strive to source ethically produced, local (where possible) ingredients and also to invest in the local community which is really commendable. Apparently they have branches all over the South West, so I look forward to trying some of the others out too!
